LASZLO HEGE: PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY 

Laszlo Hege has an outstanding track record and extensive work history with clients in various fields of entertainment and commercial production.  

   

Directing Hecuba

As screenwriter he has written several highly-praised feature film screenplays based on his own original stories such as ENZO, and THE PILOT’S WIFE; written several with writing partners, including the thriller DANGEROUS PASSENGER with Patrick Corkell; he has also written adaptations of novels such as RESURRECTION WALTZ based on Tom McGuane’s novel; THE FILTHY WAR by Eduardo Rozsa-Flores and adaptations of the stage plays, such as THE ANKH MURDERS and others. His full-length screenplay for animation, a fable for children, CAT CROSSING, has been optioned by a Japanese animation company. He is currently writing a CIA thriller, CODENAME SCORPION.
   

As director he has done commercial work for such diverse corporate clients as COACH, CIBA-GEIGY, The BANK of NEW YORK and PANASONIC. Laszlo Hege has Produced and Directed several theatrical shorts, (SIX CHARACTERS, HECUBA) and a one-hour documentary film (SOCCER, USA), starring PELÉ, the most famous athlete in the world. Laszlo also directed a video version of David Mamet’s play SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO with DOUG BARR in the lead role. He has also worked on documentaries of other directors as Cameraman (SKI THE OLYMPIC ALPS).

 

He has Produced and Directed his monthly TV program for nationwide Sports Cable release, (SOCCER, USA TV). He has directed actors on stage, studied directing with WYNN HANDMAN and produced a 2-hour multimedia experimental work (MANGO+FAN=HAPPINESS) that was presented on the stage at THE AMERICAN PLACE THEATER.  Recently, he produced the nationally-released spoken-word CD, ANTI-WAR POETRY THROUGH THE AGES, now available for downloads. As actor Laszlo Hege played the Cameraman role in the film THE REALITY TRAP, and other roles in various commercials.

As a commercial photographer in New York, Hege has served the corporate clients of New York advertising agencies in national campaigns of merchandising, promotion and publicity, especially in the consumer, fashion, sportswear, pharmaceutical, construction industry and real estate fields. His famous magazine and advertising illustrations with photography won many national Awards of Excellence, including from the New York Art Directors’ Club, several NY Publications Designer’s Awards, and the Communication Arts Magazine Award of Excellence (Best Trade Illustration).

After attending the University of Mississippi majoring in History and working as a photo-journalist in the Deep South, (and staring a monthly local magazine that’s still being published, The Delta Review) and after moving to New York, taking courses in film, art history and advertising design at the School of Visual Arts and the New School of Social Research. Later, Laszlo opened his own mid-town commercial photography studio and continued to work with the best Art and Design Directors in the city.

His hobbies are long-distance sailing, Alpine downhill skiing and writing fiction. He likes to drink red wine produced by the Tamas Gere wine yard, Villany, Hungary, in moderation.
